Sugar Addict and Hunger Issues: Keep healthy snacks ready

It gets better over time. I was an OA member and my sponsor is now a friend of 25 years. I still struggle. Here are some suggestions:

Read labels ... really ... I was at a friend's house & she was making pot pies for dinner. I went in to help thinking I would make a salad or something and I saw Marie Callanders! 53 or 58 grams of fat! That is why they are so good. They make me sick from the carbs & fat content. If I want a pot pie I use a Rachael Ray recipe and only put crust on the top. Keep healthy snacks ready. Buy goodiesas that you do not like for others in the house. Sweets, I buy things made with coconut ( HATE coconut), chips- I buy spicy as I cannot touch them. I keep very small oranges or the mini banana for a sweet treat. If i do not get piggy i keep the no sugar but has fat ice cream toppers to go on the fruit.

Amy you really sound like an addict like me. Don't take this the wrong way, but finding out you're a compulsive overeater can be a real relief. (I used to call it emotional eating, sugar addict, carb addict, foodie, etc. in the end, it all adds up to being a coe). You may contact me directly for more info. I have to lose at least 50 lbs and I am struggling with this as well. Now re the always hungry part, I don't see that anyone addressed meds. Once you are on these, you go crazy hungry. I mean, crazy HONGRY, so the protein does work too, peanut butter is great but I'm a coe so that will start a trigger for me and I can't stop eating it.

A 12 step prog like OA can really help you deal with your spiritual issues that forces you to control through the use of food, which is what makes a coe. I have a great loop I am part of if you are interested. You are not alone and you're not crazy. Read my blog if you want more info on my crazy struggle! I have two issues that really get in the way of trying to manage my blood sugar, so I wondered if anyone had ideas.
