>IME docs are very concerned about 'lows'...and would prefer for diabetics to be a 'little high' rather than risk lows. If you are in the hospital many docs will give orders for high carb meals and keep bg around 180.<
What doctor wouldn't know that you can't get serious lows without insulin or hypoglycemic oral meds? This whole thing leaves me scratching my head. It's true that non-endo, non-internal medicine docs are (from what I can glean) taught that anything under 7.0 (some would say 8.0) is A-OK, but. All I can think of is that bettyjean was half starving herself to get that 5.6 A1c, you know, compromising herself nutritionally, and of course, that wouldn't be good. But for cryin' out loud, then prescribe the woman some meds so she can eat enough to stay healthy...I don't get it, at least, not yet.
