Diabetes: Control diabetes with Humalog insulin-base

I control my diabetes with Humalog insulin-base plus sliding scale at meal time and Levemir insulin-25 units at bedtime. I also try to get out and walk when I'm able and have little/no arther. Oh, okay. You have arthritis to deal with too, huh? You have a lot on your plate to contend with every day then.

If someone's in good control, with an A1c hovering around 6.0 or maybe even a bit lower, and they're using insulin, yeah, they're probably going to have to be on the lookout for lows. As long as you can feel them (be aware of them), you're vigilant about testing and eating on time, and not bingeing or skipping meals, you're probably okay. Even still, exercise can really impact your numbers, but if you test around exercise sessions and have a small protein-carb snack before going out walking or biking, swimming, going to the gym, etc, most of all that is manageable.
