What the crap?

>So I can only go to my dr for the cold or flu but anything related to asthma or diabetes they refuse to cover until i've had coverage with them for a full year provided I don't go to the er with asthma or diabetes related issues. What kind of crap is this? Am I ever going to find a company to cover me?<

Although it might be "crap," and I agree that it is, it's very common. If you do not have insurance coverage for a certain determined period of time before being covered by your current insurance, the new insurance can -- legally -- deny your coverage for up to a year. Many companies have waived the pre-ex clause now, but if they don't, and you fall into those cracks, then they absolutely have the right to refuse that coverage for those conditions that you DID receive treatment for within "x" period before joining their plan.
