Question on what to do next 1

Actually the insurance company gives us a discount for using the health coach and following her advice unless it is in direct contrast with the dr. She is an RN and specializes in chronic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure and so on. She says we are doing everything possible. I have shared with her a sample menu and we have an exercise log that we keep.
We also have a fine jar that we have to pay a fine if we don't exercise a day. The fine starts at 1 dollar (this comes out of our pocket money) for the first day and then doubles each day after. There has been one day in the last 2 weeks we didn't exercise and that was due to a work issue my husband had. This money goes to replacing exercise equipment we have. We average 1-2 miles a day walking and if we work out in the weight room it's 1/2 mile on the tread mill, 4 miles on the recumbent bike and weights for 15 minutes. Then there is the stair stepper that we use until the next machine becomes available. We also have workout dvd's a mini trampoline and yoga bands for stretching with. We usually use the exercise room 3 times a week and go out for a walk with our dogs the other days. If it's raining we go to the mall and walk the mall which is exactly one mile. I know this because I wear a pedometer and I have measured our walk (that is outside) with my car also.
I guess I am just a little frustrated as I thought the insulin would work alot faster than this. His numbers went down from the low 300's to the mid 200's and we have seen some in the mid-upper 100's. He is not as depressed as he was either.
I will be poseing the Metform question to her the next time I speak with her. I suspect it might be stress. He was pretty stressed this weekend and his numbers were up. There is alot going on in his job and he is stressing about that and our oldest son. The youngest doesn't help much. I plan to speak with them alone and explain that they must do everything possible to not stress him out.
I did get him to agree to watch D-Life on CNN (I think it's one of the news channels) every Sunday. He found that it was interesting and made him want to work on this a little more. He found it funny that the same thing's I have been telling him they are telling him. (Like move around during commercials instead of eating and that popcorn is better than other junk food especially because we air-pop it)
He loves movies and we do watch them quite frequenlty. He likes to watch the news but even that is loosing it's appeal. I turn soccer games on for him to watch also as he grew up loving to watch and play soccer. I plan to have my son make a small soccer net in the back yard and get him out there playing again. Church is not an option. He is from a Muslim country and there is not a mosqu in our area. He is not a puzzle solver as a de-stresser. He is a structural engineer and deals with soliving problems/puzzels every day. He loves to swim but not in a public pool or lake. We had a pool but with issues in the neighborhood it wasn't possible to use. I think that this is gonna be our biggest obstical and that it will take time to figure it totally out. One of the things we are working on is trying to figure out some kind of buisness to open. This seems to de-stress him the most. We have the funds and I have the time so while it does stress me out some it seems to de-stress him more. We have a couple ideals and plan to start getting things together this Friday (He gets out early on fridays and we would need to meet with the landlord to find out about availablitity and look at the properties available)
If that works out I can see him alot less stressed. He worries about as much as I do.
It's just a very stressfull situation for both of us. He gets depressed easily as well.
I did bring up the endo ideal and he thought that might be a good ideal. He would like to see if they can tell him if it's not enough insulin or if the pancrease even works. He also likes the ideal of someone that would understand the condition more than our dr does. I don't know if I mentioned it or not but our dr that we see right now is not an endo she is an internal medicine dr. While she is very good and we are comfortable with her... I think that we might just need some encouragement that we are on the right path or if we are not how to get on it.
Anyway thank you so much for your help and insight.
