>What are you saying? Doctors are wonderful, but you have had to fire a few? In fact you are preparing to fire your GP presently? You simply make my point that there are bad doctors out there. Some are downright crooked.<
Speaking for Mica here, but I don't believe she said she thought her PCP was a "bad" doctor or "crooked". There are as many reasons for leaving a doctor's care as their are individuals who go to him or her. Every office I ever worked in took pride in offering the best possible dental care we could provide, but there were some patients who couldn't get away from us fast enough (each with their own set of reasons), and occasionally others the boss decided he or she couldn't treat anymore, so legal letters of dismissal had to be sent to the patients involved. Doc-patient relationships are a two-way street; reasonable needs and expectations have to be met on both sides.
A doctor doesn't have to be bad for you to leave them. I left my OB/GYN because we moved to the other end of town. I almost left my primary care (the one that manages my diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure) even though I love him to death because at one time we were down to one vehicle and weren't sure when we'd be able to repair the one that was down or get a new/used one and my doctor didn't take my husband's insurance but his took mine and since we had the one vehicle it was easier if we had the same doctor so we could try to get in together. But in the end, we were able to get my car repaired so I didn't have to leave my doctor. But my point is that Judy is right, there are many reasons for leaving a doctor that don't mean he/she was a bad doctor.
