Maria and helpful hints

Go to www.bayermeter.com and get a free Contour meter. It will come with a few strips, but at your next doctor visit or by phone, tell them you need a script for strips and lancets for this meter. Use it however often your doctor says to; at least morning and before bed.

Food for work. Take an appropriate lunch and 2 15g snacks, like piece of fruit and one ounce of cheese, whole grain crackers, or whatever snack you like. I also take a Glucerna drink because sometimes my lunch is delayed. You will be fine. Pay attention to what you eat and review a list of 15g snacks, so that when you feel low, grab a snack. In the morning, I have milk, so that there is something there for my insulin to work on, then I have plan my breaklfast and its a quick one cause I have to get to work. there are frozen breakfast sandwiches with 15g carb and although its not a whole grain, the protein is helpful in the egg. I eat one of those on my way to work. I also keep a vitamin water with about 17g carbs total and I sip on that while I see patients so I don't get too low. I'm a snacker so would rather do it this way. works for me. My lunch on Tuesday will be a couple meatballs and 1 tablespoon of sauce and 2 slices of high fiber light italian bread. I haven't decided what else I'll take. Probably a salad and I make my own dressing with olive oil and red wine vinegar.
