I do not disagree with you, but I bet you do not use sugar in your coffee / tea. I also bet sugar-sweetened soft drinks are off limits for you. Things like that were all I meant. And it is more of a problem with oral anti-glycemics since they cannot be tailored to particular meals that was the reason I began using Starlix before certain meals).
In the last couple of years, I've actually returned somewhat to what I call "real" food. I decided I actually end up eating less if I eat what tastes good, what's good for me, and what doesn't leave me looking for more because "that just didn't do it for me." But you're right-- I never drink my carbs if I can avoid it, with the exception of a small amount of low fat milk in coffee and on cereal. And I never add real sugar to anything. I admit that insulin gives me more freedom of dietary choice, at least I feel it does. My current one-week glucose average on my meter is right around 120-130, which I don't think is half bad for an insulin resistant old lady.
All of us have to find out what works for us, in the light of our current diabetic status, whether or not we're trying to change our weight, any exercise we do, and what meds we take, if any.
