What time do you take the Lantus?

These are morning BGs, bedtime BGs, and daily insulin taken. I'm not sure what to adjust except diet and that isn't very adjustable. Breakfast is 1 scrambled egg and an Atkins Shake. Dinner is a small amount of meat and a lettuce, cucumber, 1/4 cup cottage cheese salad*. Mother's Day included a vinegrette dressing which could explain the 183 bedtime number but I haven't got a clue what is causing the other high numbers. I'm only testing twice a day until next week. New doctor told me to do this and give the holes in my fingers a chance to heal. I'm also testing with both my meters now, thinking my main meter had gone bad but I'm getting almost the same numbers.

102 - 133 - no metformin yet - 45 units lantus
126 - 167 - no metformin yet - 45 units lantus
103 - 188 - 125 mg metformin - 45 units lantus
111 - 208 - 125 mg metformin - 45 units lantus
132 - 160 - 125 mg metformin - 45 units lantus
117 - 178 - 125 mg metformin - 45 units lantus
127 - 183 - 250 mg metformin - 45 units lantus
116 - 194 - 250 mg metformin - 45 units lantus
142 - 158 - 250 mg metformin - 45 units lantus

What time do you take the Lantus? Or "times"? For some people, the effect of Lantus doesn't work for 24 hours; it's closer to 19 for me. So I take Lantus twice a day, 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. And the doses aren't equal, either; I take 2 units at 8 a.m. and 8 units at 8 p.m. This works very well for me but was determined only after a lot of testing.
