How long before you took his bg did hid eat and what was the food?

I have had slightly higher than normal pressure in my eyes for years, but I don't have glaucoma. Any number is an average, and since no damage has appeared in my eyes over the course of ten years or more, my eye doctor decided that my pressure is probably normal for me.

This may be true for your husband as well. Has this higher pressure just appeared, or has it been higher for some time? My doctor has said that my higher pressure is not related to diabetes, but I don't know that I entirely believe that. I will be seeing a new doctor shortly and mean to ask her.

As for the bedtime reading of 142... how long before you took his bg did your husband eat and what was the food? That could affect his reading.

Also please keep in mind that our "accurate" meters can be off by as much as 20%. I would not base any action on one reading, even if it was considerably higher than 142. Try to get readings on different days (taken two hours after a full meal), preferably one with some carb in it. That will give you a better idea of how his body is functioning.
