I think a fig newton would be great if you like them. I have lows all the time if I forget or put off eating longer than I should. Years ago a doctor prescribed Special K bars. I think he must have had stock in the company. But I keep them or Fiber One bars handy. I usually have a bar and a small glass of milk, then, I eat a protein as soon as possible. Sometimes, I eat fruit and cottage cheese. Like you, I don't really like orange juice, and when I was diagnosed, I swore off liquid carbs, so I don't even have them around except for milk. The important thing is to recognize that you are going south and do something about it.
Every so often my blood sugar get to low; like, today I forgot to eat lunch and my BG got down to 68. Now 68 isn't real low, but it (BG) did need some attention before it really went south. So what do you eat when this happens? I had a Fig Newton -- is that okay or do you use something else. I have used 4 oz. of orange juice but I don't like the taste.
