There are many things that help lower your glucose, support the pancreas, and cellular receptors for insulin and glucose. Have a complete blood work-up for I am finding that something simple like Niacin flushing supplement can make a big difference. If you are taking any medication, check first for possible interaction.
Several vitamins, minerals, herbs and antioxidants have been studied for their efficacy at promoting healthy blood sugar and protecting cells from the damage of elevated blood sugars with favorable results. You could take a good Sugar Balance Formula like Dr. VANESSA'S SUGAR BALANCE which is one of the most complete sugar balance formulas I could find on the market. It contains: B/6 30 mg; B12 60 mcg; Magnesium 100 mg; Zinc 30 mg; Chronmium 200 mcg; Alpha Lipic Acid 100 mg; Bilberry 100 mg; Blueberry 300 mg; Cedar Berry 120 mg; Cinnamon 400 mg; Fenugreek 50 mg; Banaba extract 325 mg; Gymnema Sylvestre 120 mg; Napol cactus 320 mg. You take 4 tablets a day, which means you have to buy two bottles for a 30 day supply @ a total cost of around $24. This is the one supplement that I would consider first. (However, there are many other things that are worthy of consideration by diabetics and pre-diabetics, some not in this formula or some where I feel more of what is in this formula is better or may be just fine by themselves for getting sugar balanced)
HUCKLEBERRY LEAF TEA— ½ hr before each meal. You can make up a container of iced tea. Tea is loose, not in bags, she picks it herself in the wild.
GYMNEMA SYLVESTRE (400 mg per day)
(BITTER MELON) 120 mg
BILBERRY (160 - 320 mg per day of the standardized)
CINNAMON – 100 mg with each meal is good to help maintain normal blood sugars
B-MULTIPLE B1 benfotiamine, B6, B3, plus B12 methylcobalamin. Hard to find in this form. You could also just take Brewer’s Yeast tablets for a complex B-vitamin.
