Best wishes in your work to improve condition through your exercising and dieting

Hi everyone for all your inspiring words of wisdom, hopefulness, and encouraging words. It is I who always gives the encouraging words out but was left with nothing for myself these past few days. I did real well for five years but. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I've been trying to move forward, keep busy, and out of the house so I don't continue to wallow in self pity. I went out swimming for a few hours at the local indoor pool.

Best wishes in your work to improve condition through your exercising and dieting. There's no question that you can succeed. Here are a few bits of my experience along this path that you may find useful. About a year ago I joined a new gym in my little town. Eventually I started putting in real effort on the threadmill, and I have found it very useful. Through moderate dieting and regular exercise my weight has come down from 260 pounds to 205. The doctor approved my goal of 190, so I'm getting close. I find exercise is the key to my weight loss success. I find my weight reduction is really slow these days ... I can just taste getting below the 200 pound barrier but can't quite get there. But I know I will make it eventually, it just requires that I not lose heart. It's all a mixture of failures and successes, but in the long run, if you don't lose heart, the battle will be won.

No matter what the doctors and others said about the need to exercise and loss weight, I found I didn't really believe it till I experienced it for myself. I was experiencing a lot of trouble with my knees ... we even selected our last house based on my need to avoid stairs. I've found my knees don't give me much trouble now and I easily go up and down stairs. At one time I thought the fast-acting component in my insulin wasn't working, since after taking a shot in the morning if I ate anything my BG level would shoot up. Now I eat a small breakfast after taking the insulin and have no trouble. In general I can tolerate more carbs that before, making meals easier to deal with. I've cut my insulin from 30 units per day to 20 units. I have also elminated two pills completely. Reduction of medication is nice and even saves me some money.

Getting adjusted to exercise opens up new things in my life. I have better stamina so I can enjoy many pleasant activities more than before, such as shopping trips, table tennis and pleasant walks. Your swimming is an ideal exercise, not only improving yourself but also enjoying the sporting activity. For me I have turned to long brisk walks around my town. When I first started walking a long time ago I found 15 minutes was about all I could take and I was bored by the lack of variety. Now I have the stamina to walk much further and I have seen many of the nooks and crannies of my town. Now I understand why so many people enjoy walking, it is actually very interesting! I find being able to combine the requirements of exercising with the fun of certain activities to be important to me. So far I haven't found much for the treadmill (maybe others have some suggestions there) but I enjoy table tennis and walking.
