Mushrooms: Nature's Doritos?

Mushrooms do have food-value, but are quite Low Carb and Low "everything else!" Lotsa water! Here's just one example for plain white mushrooms, raw:

Quantity 100 grams (just under 1/4 lb)
Calories ~22
Water ~92 grams
Protein ~3 grams
Fat ~0.3 grams
Carbs ~3 grams
Fiber ~1.0 gram
Glucose ~1.5 grams
Plus an assortment of vitamins & minerals

Now, 1/4lb of mushrooms is quite a few and perhaps you don't consume that many at a sitting, but the values can be proportionalized from the above it's. Or look up a different quantity at the source listed below. Other types of "shrooms" are similarly low, for instance Portabella's have ~5 grams of carbs/100g serving & less protein. Italian/Crimini types fall somewhere between those 2 examples.

BTW, there's more info on such things as the cooked/stir- fried versions also at the USDA Searchable Nutritional Database...more
