Diabetes: How much denial there is about some aspects of our medicine

I studied homeopathy about 11 years. And for an equal period of time was a vegetarian. I became critical of our medicine though I came to find alternative medicine equally greedy and noticed that some of the greater profiteers in alternative medicine were MDs and RNs. I ran into the idea that alternative medicine was fathered by conventional medicine, by patient discontent for things we have been discussing, docs not listening and dehumanization. Listen to the strident talk of the AMA leaders, the ones I have heard said we deserve what we ask for and we will not let anyone take it away from us. Them are fighting words.

What amazes me in all this is how much denial there is about some aspects of our medicine and we will not look at it and refuse in too many cases not even to talk about it. And so we live with it and keep it in like a festering cancer, living with it as things get worst.

There is a difference between the way we talk and the way we walk, between an oath and how docs practice medicine. Hitler made all military take an oath to obey Him in Germany, The colonel who planted the bomb that killed Hitler in slow motion, realized that it was not enough to kill Hitler and that there would be soldiers who would adhere to the oath. There is some truth to this but it is hard to dig it out in the complex makeup of our doctors. If we are to improve our medical care, we have to look at things deeply so that we repair the system correctly. We will never progress if we assume that drug companies, docs, and other elements of our medical system are beyond criticism. We are not sheep but thoughtful consumers and citizens and humanitarians who desire a medicine that works and serves all well.
