Labwork - yes or no?

Hi! I've been a lurker for several years and this is my 1st post. I was 1st diagnosed back in 1999 so I've one or two dr's visits. Recently I switched dr's and now my primary care physician is an endocrhonoligist (sp). I called the office to get my referral for labs for my upcoming 3 month checkup and was told I didn't need any lab work. I asked about my cholesterol, blood glucose, A1C and other assorted things. The person on the other end told me that since my last results for cholesterol etc were good, I wouldn't need labs done. She said they would check my A1C in the office at my appt. I asked if I had to fast and she said no. She also said my dr does things differently. I have never gone to an appt before and not had labs done. Has any one else had this happen or is this an accepted practice. Should I start looking for a new doctor? I'm very confused.

I have been seeing my doctor for 5 years and he always wants me to get labwork before an appointment. I see him every 3 months. But for some reason this time he didn't give me a prescription for it (I have an appointment in August) and so i called the office to ask if he just doesn't need me to do it or if he forgot, and they checked with him and he said I didn't need to do it this time. But sometimes he does the blood work right there in the office too so maybe he's just doing that this time.
