You are right. Regrettably, the political football which our health relies can be despairing. It would be one thing if we were dealing with grown ups, mature people with a sense of decency but no. The quality of the players is more promising since the last disastrous president left office and billions of other peoples money stolen ripped off by accommodating politicos and rapacious private corporations before our very eyes ushered in a desperate situation almost everywhere. It reminds me of Hitler's scorch earth policy. Our democracy is based on the premise that people here will do the right thing and hopefully it will benefit our diabetic brethren today who have no access to care.
For me regardless of the people in office, no diabetic anywhere should be thrown out into the street without care. I rejoice that this kind of lowering of our spirits, a betrayal of what we are as humans, and have decided not to fall so low again. Americans have decided not to allow the people who run our care to let people die because they can't pay. Prayerfully, we will remove this cancer from our medical system forever.
Yes, they are currently working on health care reform, but the devil's in the detail, and President Obama is leaving it to Congress to work out the details. You know that small voluntary concessions by health care providers and employers won't work. Senate just had a bunch of hearings, it is debatable if they will even have a public option (which is NOT the same thing as a single payer system).
