HFCS or plain CS is in just about every damn thing that's been processed

I read all labels now, it takes me forever to shop! Unless I go to Trader Joes because I know everything is good there. HFCS or plain CS is in just about every damn thing that's been processed. If anyone wants, I just read Michael Pollan's book In Defense of Food. Eye opening stuff. Also there is a movie coming out called FOOD INC. It shows how our food has become so bastardized, I call them "frankenfoods" because our society has invented foods that are now making us sick. It is the reason that most scientists are saying that this generation will probably not live as long as our parents. YMMV.

While I was in Italy, I went to several supermarkets. I read labels there. They are still pretty pristine, which is why their foods have a lower shelf life, but a few products like some cookies did have HFCS. So I think it's beginning to trickle in there. But I know that the EU won't let GMO foods (genetically modified foods) in any of their countries. YET. Still, remember, my mom's a diabetic. And she has been living in Italy for over 30 years now. Go figure.

I bought a juice [Langers Pomegranate Cranberry Juice Cocktail] to have in reserve for emergency lows and for the cranberry/bladder effects. Bought this during a recent fluish episode...when not eating much at all...didn't want to go low. I was sleeping a lot and would wake up past time to eat and find bg too low. Off usual schedule too. It says "No HFCS No Crystalline Fructose" on the label..."Sweetened with Real Sugar." That's what I wanted.. no artificial sweetener. I find that I can well handle 4oz of juice at a time, particularly if not feeling well and not eating well otherwise. I stretch it out with water to stay hydrated.
On the side of the label it says:

"Is high fructose corn syrup [HFCS] a major cause of obesity? Most nutritionists say yes. The body processes HFCS differently than it does sugar, altering the way the metabolism is regulated. As a result, the body is tricked into craving more while the liver releases additional fat into the bloodstream.
