Diabetes: Progressive type 2 diabetes

It may also be that since this is a progressive disease, we might not be as lucky a year or two down the road.that's the reason we need to be careful with our carbs, or I should say me,because next year my pancreas might be wonkier than it is now. so the less I stress it now, perhaps the longer it will last. maybe I'm just fooling myself, but then again...

I agree with you that diabetes is often progressive. I've been laced into by many list sibs over the years for saying that, but IMO they're deluding themselves, at least on some level. The years march on, with everything good, bad or indifferent that the progress of time entails. Those who are diagnosed at 70 probably don't have to worry a whole lot about the progression of their condition, but those of us diagnosed at 25 or 50 sure as heck do....

No crystal balls available, of course, so none of us can know for sure what the future will bring. This is yet another reason why we need to stay close to our medical providers, make sure to have exams and labwork on time, stomp hard on that insidious personal pity party that wants to take over so naturally sometimes, and just get on with doing what we have to do today, next week, next month, next year, etc.
