Personally if this happened to me and wasn't already on a diuretic, I'd mention this to my doctor to see if he/she thought that a diuretic would help. I have edema and take 40 mg of Lasix each morning. I keep the bathroom busy early in the day.
Another alternative the doctor might consider is changing your bp meds. I had to go through several different ones before I found one that worked for me. I'm on 240 mg of DILT-XR capsules (that is generic Dilacor Extended Release). For me, any bp med that wasn't extended release just didn't work for me for one reason or another. My last bp check at the doctor's office a couple of weeks ago was 117/72.
BTW, my edema isn't due to the bp meds. I've been on the bp med for maybe 15 years. My edema started after my hospital stay last spring when I was given a saline solution constantly for 3 weeks. I was first prescribed 80 mg of Lasix when I left the hospital and lost 50 lbs in 2 weeks.
