If he even hints at a pump he'll just have to come up with a better idea because there's no way I'll ever use one. Why not? What do you know about them? I would never suggest a pump NOW, before you've even used a regimen of MDI, because you'd just be going through the same process you'd need to go through if you set up a Novolog/Humalog and Lantus/Levemir regimen, but why the negative feeling toward pumps?
Can't answer for JJ, but MY negative feelings stem from the encumbrance of tubing. That problem might be solved by the tube-free Omnipod. But I'm sure it has other problem that I don't foresee. I always said I would consider a pump only when there were one that would act as a true artificial pancreas -- with a built-in interface to a CGM and the ability to translate those results and apply them to the constant release of insulin. But I doubt that day is coming anytime soon. And my need is NOW. So I have become much more flexible and open to the idea. Yes, I agree with you, Christine... it is beneficial to experience MDI before transitioning to a pump. I may be ready if all the financial aspects fall in line. Or maybe not.
