This makes me think maybe I will cancel the surgery on my thyroid. My sugars are very controllable now if I am careful about my diet. If this kind of med messes with that, I will be really annoyed. Everything about my body really annoys me anyway. this thyroid thing is really ticking me off. I know I am not the only one, but I don't feel very gracious about it. my numbers are reading normal, it is just my thyroid has to have multi nodules. It is affecting my swallowing but as far as I am concerned I don't need to eat. You guys are giving me food for thought here.
I was diagnosed hypothyroid BEFORE by about three years being diagnosed as diabetic...One of the first things my endo said to me was, "Its' going to be very difficult for you to keep your numbers under control because of the hypothyroidism" I am on synthroid - I'm hoping you didn't get put on a 'high' prescription right off the bat - you should start low (25mcg) and work your way up to final - which will take awhile to adjust.. and hopefully (believe me when I say, 'hopefully') it won't take too long for you to find the correct balance...so yea, I'd say you'll be walking a tight rope for awhile - join the club..... and keep a sense of humor - you'll need it...I told my endo that I could eat the exact same thing every day and get DIFFERENT numbers every day - she agreed with me - I said that doesn't make any sense - she agreed with me there too - said "you're diabetic, it doesn't make any sense"...I've really wondered how you are supposed to keep stuff in balance when even the doctor thinks your bod is nuts LOL.
