Pneumonia and Flu shots

I am home today after a day stay in the hospital for pneumonia. For me, it began with pharangitis and a cough for a week. Then, I felt better for a day, then by Sunday, I crashed. My hubby took me to the emergency room that morning. I knew I had pneumonia (I've had it before) but the doctors in the ER were concerned that the spot on my right lung was a blood clot! I had a scary couple of days! Finally, after two CAT scans, x rays, and an ultrasound, they determined that it was just pneumonia.
I met with the diabetes educators while I was there. Actually, I'm a little grateful for the stay. It allowed me to see what correct portions look like, and gave me fool proof practice on carb counting. I couldn't take my metformin while I was there due to the dyes they use for the CAT scans, so I was given insulin. I still feel tired and a bit short of breath, but much better than I did before. The odd thing is, I had the pneumonia vaccine just last month. The same thing happened to me years ago when I had the flu vaccine...I had the worst flu I have ever had. Is there anyone here that opts out of the vaccines? Right now, I can't see a viable reason why I should have them.

My husband and I both opt out of Pneumonia and Flu shots. When he was in the hospital last time they gave it to him and then told him about it. He didn't get sick but he didn't want it. (that hospital is now closed hmm wonder why). Every year my mom gets one and every year she has gotten Pneumonia. The same with the flu shot. She get that and the flu every year. I'm not saying its the shot that gives it to her but since I have followed in her foot steps in alot of the medical problems I have had I won't risk it. My dr is fine with my decision and while she urges them we politly say no.
